[Red Queen Software, Inc.] Customer Support -- Tech Note #1
Quick Installation Guide:
Installing SAFE software
Applies to: [SAFE] Release
2.0
Last updated: Friday June 20, 2008.
SUMMARY
This Tech Note provides you with the information necessary to
install your SAFE software from a CD.
Note: It is always advisable that you close
down any programs that maybe running on your system prior
installing any new software. This is especially true when
installing SAFE.
PROCEDURE
- Place the CD in the CD drive and close the door. If it
does not start the auto-install in a few seconds go on
the desktop to my computer. Select the drive where the CD
is. From the main menu, select the SETUP.EXE file.
The
install process should start.
Use the defaults unless you have
significant computer knowledge and a very good reason
to change them.
Chose to restart the computer at the end of the
installation process. This will make sure that Windows
will register all of the files in the registry. If the
files aren't registered, the program will not work.
You have now completed the installation process.
- Registering the program.
Every time you start the
program you will get a registration screen. SAFE will
allow you a fixed number of days or uses before it will
stop working. This is a full working version of the SAFE
program, any work you do now will still be there after
you have register the software. You can register on our
website at www.redqueensoftware.com.
Registration could take a few days, so it is important
that you register as soon as you install the software.
The software will generate a registration number on
the computer screen. It is that generated number that you
will use for the registration process. Each number
generated is unique, so a number generated on one
computer will not work for another computer.
Once you have completed the registration process on
our website, you will enter the number that we return to
you and your registration will be complete.
- Browse the sample data that comes with the program.
After you have viewed the examples listed in
the sample database you can delete the sample data and
start to input your own items. You must manually delete
the image files found in the following subdirectory
\\Program Files\Red Queen Software\SAFE\Pictures that
were associated with the sample data.
Do not delete all of the
sample data until you have added at least one of your own
items or the database may not work!
Now you are ready to start protecting all of
your valuable assets with SAFE.
Enjoy!
