Why isn't SAFE Home Inventory an Internet based
program that you can easily access from the web?
At first, we were going to design the SAFE Home Inventory program
as a web based software product. We thought it was a wonderful idea
to make the SAFE Home Inventory program an Internet based software
program because it would be far easier for us to create and manage
than a conventionally distributed software program. The other attractive
reason was that we would be in control. We would control all of
our customers information "off-site" and they would easily buy into
the idea that it was "safe" in our off-site servers. After that,
we wouldn't have to do anything more than just sit back and collect
the money and the renewals fees for the service, year after year.
But then we started to think like a customer...
Do you really want strangers to have access to
the information about everything you own?
Think about it. Do you really want others to know
just exactly what you own and what it is worth? I didn't think so.
That was the same conclusion we drew after we began to review the
responses from our marketing surveys of potential customers. One
customer summed it up best when he put down his reasons (in only
three words) why he did not want use a web based home inventory
program -- IRS, ex-spouse, lawsuits.
At that point we had an epiphany. And totally changed our thought
process on how we were going to design our product. We realized
that our customers need to retain control over their private information,
not have it easily accessible by total strangers or be at a central
location where it can be subpoenaed.
You need to be in control for your own safety
With SAFE Home Inventory Manager software you keep control of
your own information, not someone else. That way you don't have
to worry about who might be gaining access to your home inventory
